Day Eight - Nutre Hogar, Ofrece un Hogar, Tertulia, and Fiesta

Today was the last morning shift to work in Nutre Hogar and the Milwaukee group loved the opportunity to see the kids, feed them their morning snack, and play with the babies they've grown so attached to these last couple of days.

Duncan, Jack, Michael, and Joey sit with their babies.

Ben, Jack, Nico, Greg, Alvaro, Ricardo, and Hacinto play together.

So happy!

Jason and both Bens help feed Baila and Maralin.

While most of the Milwaukee group stayed at Nutre Hogar, Carly, Theresa and I had the opportunity to visit Ofrece un Hogar (Offer a Home).  Ofrece un Hogar is an orphanage where the children (usually from Nutre Hogar) who have been abandoned wait to be adopted.

Playing on the swings!

"Playing with the kids of Ofrece un Hogar was an amazing experience that taught me how to find happiness in the midst of strife. I will forever remember these kids and the lesson they've given me." -Theresa B.

This afternoon was our final tertulia at Srta. Morse's house and this time Nestor Urena, "a proud Panamanian," joined us to talk about the history of relations between the US and Panama as well as the poverty here.

Gracias a Nestor Urena para hablar con nostros de su pais.
Thank you Nestor Urena for talking with us about your country.

The Urena family graciously offered to host a party for the students and their host siblings this year!  Everyone had a great time dancing and singing karaoke.
